Randy was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area and developed an early interest in photography that really caught on later in life. After learning to SCUBA dive he rented an underwater camera while on a dive trip to the Turks and Caicos Islands. When he came back and showed off his work for his dive club he started getting offers to show at other clubs, and even got some interest in buying some prints. He was hooked! This led to the purchase of a Nikonos V, the first of many underwater camera systems.

During his years of traveling around the world, in addition to underwater photography he became adept at nature, wildlife and bird photography. Dive travel has taken him to many exotic destinations where he photographed both above and below the water. Some of those locations include The Caribbean, The Philippines, Borneo, Indonesia, and Papua New Gunea!

Randy has won many awards for his photography including Best of Show at the Monterey Shootout underwater photo competition, Several first places and other awards at the SEA International Underwater Photo Competition, and two Best in Category Awards at the Carmel Art Institute's Magic of Point Lobos exhibition. Randy's images have also been displayed at several juried exhibitions.

Randy is currently serving as president of Light and Shadow Camera Club in San Jose, California http://light-and-shadow.org, is a board member of the Northern California Underwater Photographic Society www.NCUPS.org, has been a long time member and contributor to California Ships to Reefs www.californiashipstoreefs.org, and was a founding member of Wildlife Photographers of Silicon Valley www.WPSV.org. He also enjoys doing volunteer work at The Tech Museum of Innovation in San Jose. Randy served for six years on the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary Advisory Council from 2005 to 2011.
