Local Birds

All these images were taken in California, most within 100 miles of my home in San Jose. Some were taken in my own yard. Some were taken at local parks, and many were taken in Carmel Valley at a friends ranch. I did not set out to be a "birder", but I have to admit it's a lot of fun...

Bluebird father feeds fledgling chick on a branch near their nest

I found a bluebird nest where the chicks were newly fledged. The young would follow their parents wherever they went. If food was found, they would eat what they could and then pester their parents for more. (Sialia mexicana)
